Borana Mobile Clinic News

September 21st, 2010

It is with great sadness that I write of the death of Jackson Lengopito – the driver of our mobile clinic car.  He sadly had an asthma attack at about 2 in the morning so we were not able to save him.  We now go about the really difficult job of having to replace him.

Jackson had an incredible compassion about him and was able to communicate with the local women on a very unique level. They truly trusted him and sought his advice on many issues, which was why he was able to communicate the importance of planning a family and also more recently getting tested for HIV aids.
On a happier note – we have rebuilt the Land Rover and given it a paint job, Jackson had just returned from Kisima where the sign writer had helped him to decorate the car and make it more recognisable.
Pauline is having her second child in a couple of months so she is off on maternity leave at the end of September.
Gladwell is our new nurse; she replaced Joyce who was given a job in town by the Nanyuki District Hospital.  She is very kindly going to come back and fill in for Pauline whilst she is away.
