2014 has brought the winds of change to the Ngare Ndare, with the first of the new generation of Dyers returning to the farm to work along side Rose and Tony. The farm is now moving forward with the goal of making Borana as self sufficient as possible in terms of meat, vegetables, dairy, fodder and energy production.
In view of this we recently purchased 4 pregnant sows which recently farrowed resulting in almost 40 piglets!! We have also begun producing eco-charcoal using an innovative new method that uses only thin braches and twigs. This means that that we do not need to fell trees in order to produce it making it a much more sustainable than both conventional charcoal and firewood as a source of energy!!
